Unit 17: Ecology
( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)
Ecology studies the interactions among organisms and their environment. Objects of study include interactions of organisms with each other and with abiotic components of their environment. Topics of interest include the biodiversity, distribution, biomass, and populations of organisms, as well as cooperation and competition within and between species. Ecosystems are dynamically interacting systems of organisms, the communities they make up, and the non-living components of their environment. Ecosystem processes, such as primary production, pedogenesis, nutrient cycling, and niche construction, regulate the flux of energy and matter through an environment.
- 17.1: Energy Flow through the Biosphere
- This page provides user interface labels and messages for a digital guide management system in MindTouch, detailing functionalities like deleting tabs, managing classifications, and learning paths. It includes warnings about character limits and confirmation prompts for actions such as removing paths, facilitating user interactions for effective guide content management.
- 17.2: Cycles of Matter in the Biosphere
- This page provides user interface labels and messages for managing tabs and learning paths in MindTouch, including options for deleting tabs, confirming learning path removals, and character count warnings. It also features buttons for scrolling and toggling content visibility, emphasizing navigation and management functionalities within the system.
- 17.3: The Growth of Populations
- This page highlights how environmental factors like droughts, hurricanes, and floods affect population growth by limiting numbers and possibly reducing populations below sustainable levels, which in turn influences survival rates and aging in animal populations.
- 17.4: Interactions between Species
- This page outlines user interface labels and messages for managing guide tabs and learning paths in a system. It details options for deleting tabs, scrolling through them, and handling classification and path settings. Additionally, it includes notifications about character limits, warnings for truncation, and confirmation dialogs for removing paths, emphasizing user interactions in a MindTouch context.
