- In previous sections, we saw how nitrogen is removed from amino acids to produce urea, that some amino acids are glucogenic, ketogenic, or both, and the role of tetrahydrofolate derivatives and S-adenosylmethione in 1C transfer reactions. Now we can focus on how the carbon skeletons of amino acids are processed during degradations.
