    This Open Educational Resource (OER) is written for a college-level Human Physiology course, typically the second term in a two-semester Anatomy and Physiology sequence (with Human Anatomy as the first course). It is designed for lower-division students in allied health pathways and life-science majors, including pre-nursing, pre-health, kinesiology, and related programs. The text assumes students bring basic anatomical vocabulary from the prior course and focuses on explaining how body systems function and are regulated, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to organ and whole-body homeostasis. Chapters emphasize structure–function relationships, membrane transport, cell signaling, endocrine and neural control, and integrated system physiology, with clear links to clinical relevance and everyday “inside the body” examples. The book is intentionally student-friendly and supportive for diverse learners, using inclusive, culturally responsive framing, strong visuals and summary tables, and frequent learning supports such as objectives, “Check Your Understanding” questions, and glossaries to help students build durable understanding rather than memorize isolated facts.
