DNA replication is a fundamental biological process that lies at the heart of genetic inheritance and cellular reproduction. This intricate mechanism ensures the accurate duplication of an organism's genetic material before cell division occurs. During DNA replication, the iconic double-helix structure of DNA is unwound, and each strand serves as a template for the synthesis of a new complementary strand. This process is remarkably precise, with an error rate of less than one mistake per billion nucleotides copied.
