    The Calvin cycle is a crucial process in photosynthesis that converts carbon dioxide into glucose, providing energy for plants and, ultimately, for most life on Earth. It is also known as the light-independent or dark reactions of photosynthesis and occurs in the stroma of chloroplasts. The cycle uses ATP and NADPH, produced in the light-dependent reactions, to drive the conversion of carbon dioxide into organic molecules.

    Overall, the Calvin cycle is essential for life on Earth as it enables the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy, supporting the energy needs of plants and, indirectly, all other organisms that rely on plants for food.
