3: Unit 3 - Systematics, Phylogeny, and Biological Diversity
( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)
In Unit 3, the diversity of life is explored through systematics and classification with a detailed study of select organisms and discussion of emerging phylogenetic relationships. This unit moves from viruses to the prokaryotes, discusses the organisms formerly grouped as protists, identifies the major characteristics of fungi, and devotes two chapters each to plant and animal life.
