Organism Presentations
Coming up in the lab, you will be giving a short 5-minute presentation on a marine creature of your choice. This week, you can start to choose your topic and sign up on the Google Doc Presentation Sign-up sheet found on Canvas. Once a topic is taken, it is off-limits for others, so sign up early so you can reserve the topic. You are able to change your topic up until the presentation is due. The species should be at least occasionally found in Monterey Bay.
Your presentation will be made up of slides with images and text that help us all understand your topic. Please use Google Slides
What should be in your presentation?
Grading Rubric:
Your score will be based on the following criteria, so make sure you address each of these in your presentation.
1. Taxonomy (from Kingdom down to species)
2. Habitat (Where is it found, both in terms of geography and habitat)
3. Ecology (relationships with other things)
4. Prey and predators (who is eating whom?)
5. Reproduction and life cycle (how do they reproduce and mature into an adult)
6. Behavior (what does it do, how does it respond to the environment)
7. Human interactions or threats (what does it do to us, and what do we do to it)
8. Other interesting facts…
9. Bibliography of all of your sources on the last slide using proper citation formatting, including a full web address (minimum 5 sources).
10. Good use of images and video. Make sure your text is not too small and that the presentation uses many images.
