They are ubiquitous partners with angiosperms, forming associations called mycorrhizae, more specifically 'endomycorrhizae', also called vesicular/arbuscular (VA) mycorrhizae. Most plants (more than 80%) are mycorrhizal and most of these form endomycorrhizae with a fungal associate in the Glomeromycota.
