    Veins of the Lower Limb

Deoxygenated blood returning to the heart from the lower limbs drain into the external iliac veins (right and left). The veins of the lower limb are named for the landmarks and regions they serve such as the femoral veins, the popliteal veins, and the anterior and posterior tibial veins. Among the veins of the lower limb are the longest blood vessels in the body, the great saphenous veins (right and left), which run the entire lengths of the lower limbs.
