The lab portion of this chapter uses bean beetles or pill bugs (roly-polys). Pill bugs can often be gathered by the instructor or lab technician, or ordered live from a biological supply company.
For the observation portion (ethology), at EVC we visit the pond on campus at watch waterbirds or turtles. Adjust outdoor animal observations for your local campus environment. We recommend scheduling this lab during a time students could easily be outside and view animals. If going outside or animal observations are not available on campus we recommend use wildlife cameras for students to observe wildlife. Some options include:
